Marriage and Family Therapist and Professional Clinical Counselor Registered Assoc iate
Have you ever heard the phrase: “You are not the problem; the problem is the problem?” For many individuals, they have been socialized to believe that they are at the heart of all of their difficulties in life. I focus more on how the problem is impacting your life and on how you can rediscover your strengths to create an alternative approach to your life, so the problem no longer defines your life. My theoretical orientation i s narrative, which guides the way we explore how the problem impacts your ability to cope effectively with the world. As we work together, we will examine the issues that you are facing and define specific goals to work towards. We will look at how the problem is negati vely interacti n g within you r life and find solutions together. We will also explore how societal and cultural issues have impact on your experiences. I also have found it important to integrate your hobbies, pastimes and interests i nto therapy to craft an experience that is as individual as you are.
As an associate PCC and MFT, I am working toward my license and am privileged to have Jan Os born, P hD and LMFT, as my supervisor. I received my BA in psychology 2010 from CSUS and my MA in counseling 2017 from SSU. I have worked at Chrysalis Community Counseling Services in Santa Rosa, counseling individuals and couples for a variety of concerns, including depression, anxiety, PTSD, and relational concerns. After my time at Chrysalis, I worked at the Gender Health Center in Sacramento, gaining experience in providing effective and sensitive care for members of the transgender/gender nonconforming community. My interests include working with people who are experiencing anxiety disorders, PTSD and depressive disorders as well as with trans individuals and the LGBT community. I also enjoy utilizing Feedback Informed Treatment (FIT) to make certain that the therapy you are being provided is effective, measurable and encouraging an environment of open communication about how therapy is workin g for you. Because I understand that mak ing it to therapy can be difficu lt at times or expensive, I offer home visits, phone sessions and face-time sessions through Doxy.me, which i s a H IPAA compliant online platform, akin to Skype. Contact me for a free phone consultation. When you are ready to work on the concerns of your life, I will be ready to work for you.
